Villa of Agrippa Postumus

The Villa of Agrippa Postumus was discovered at Boscotrecase in 1903 on land owned by Cavaliere Ernesto Santini. Works for the Circumvesuviana railroad line brought the site to light. Excavations supervised by Matteo Della Corte were carried out from 1903 to 1905. In 1906, however, a new eruption of Mount Vesuvius reburied the site. Della Corte published a plan of the excavated portion of the villa in the Notizie degli scavi di antichità.
