Villa Diamanti

Villa Diamanti is a Renaissance-style villa, part of a constellation of grand country houses that rose across the Lama district during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. These villas, built for residence and leisure, came to define the civil life and urban structure of the area. The complex comprises a main building, outbuildings, and a surrounding park. Its present form is the result of gradual accretion: over time, several separate structures, some quite close together, others more distant, were consolidated into a single estate. The oldest surviving element is a small casino, originally a logistical support building for a miniature racetrack laid out behind the villa to amuse the gentry on afternoons. The villa now sits on a gentle slope, its assembled parts telling a story of leisurely expansion rather than singular design.
