Villa de' Concina, Ticozzi con parco antistante

At the edge of a small Friulian town, Villa de’ Concina, Ticozzi presents a formal, symmetrical face to the road. Access is through an iron gate decorated with spearheads, supported by pillars topped with stone vases, or by a larger western entrance flanked by two statues and a brick-arched wicket gate. The three-storey building, plus attic, recalls the Palladian style of the Venetian villa: a clear tripartite plan, a central projecting block with a tetrastyle pronaos in giant Doric order, two loggias supporting a triangular tympanum, and at its centre, the carved stone coat of arms of the family. Symmetrical lateral wings are punctuated by simple rectangular stone-framed openings. Inside, the central hall runs through the house, with smaller rooms to either side. The 1976 Friuli earthquake caused severe damage, bringing down the facade’s tympanum and a section of the roof.
