Uffici Comunali di Campodipietra

The municipal offices of Campodipietra occupy a modest two-storey building of trapezoidal plan, its load-bearing walls built of local stone. The structure is covered by a pitched roof, and the architecture is notably plain, lacking any significant decorative ambition. A brick cornice of the romanella type, a simple, stepped profile common in vernacular Italian buildings, runs beneath the eaves. The windows and doors are framed with squared stone blocks, providing the only deliberate articulation to the otherwise unadorned façades. This is not a building designed to impress, but to serve; its straightforward, functional character speaks to the practical needs of a small community’s administration. The romanella cornice, a detail that might be overlooked elsewhere, here offers a modest link to regional building traditions, a small concession to form in a structure otherwise devoted entirely to function.
