The Torre della Tonnara di Stintino is a coastal watchtower, the first of its kind built at this site, with a low, square-plan service block attached behind it. The tower’s profile tapers upwards to its summit, a form typical of such defensive structures along this coast. Its construction is notably mixed: a skeleton of reinforced concrete is clad in brickwork, an unusual marriage of traditional shape and modern material. The service block is a modest two-storey building, its intermediate floor supported by wooden beams, and its roof carried by a timber truss with primary purlins. The walls here are built from the local Stintino stone, a rough, characterful material that roots the structure in its landscape. The whole composition speaks less of martial might than of practical, coastal vigilance; a quiet, functional outpost of an older Mediterranean world, now pausing above the sea.
