The Temple of Apollo, or Sanctuary of Apollo, stands in the ancient Roman town of Pompeii, southern Italy. Built in 120 BC, it was a Roman temple dedicated to the Greek and Roman god Apollo. The sanctuary functioned as a public space, shaped by Roman colonists to honour Greco-Roman religion and culture. Its remains, including a colonnade and altar, survive amid Pompeii’s excavated ruins, offering a tangible link to the town’s pre-eruption life.
