Scornavacche, in the comune of Chiaramonte Gulfi in the province of Ragusa, is a site on a hill on the left bank of the Dirillo river. Excavations have uncovered a Hellenistic settlement, a centre for ceramic production, not far from the Greek city of Akrillai. The remains offer a concrete glimpse into the daily life and industry of this ancient inland community, a working place rather than a grand monument.
