The Santuario Parrocchiale di Maria SS.ma di Grazie e Consolazione sits in the historic centre of Belvedere Marittimo, occupying the former Convent of the Augustinians, founded in the fifteenth century. The church was elevated to a diocesan sanctuary in 2002 and later re-designated a parish sanctuary in 2013. It is a Renaissance-era church, a period when Italian ecclesiastical architecture often balanced classical proportion with local tradition, and when convents like this one served as centres of both worship and community life.
The main feast day is celebrated on 2 July, preceded by a solemn novena, drawing a large gathering of the faithful and pilgrims. Adjoining the church, the spacious rooms of the former convent now host groups for cultural and spiritual activities. The sanctuary remains a quiet, working parish church rather than a tourist attraction, its significance rooted in the ongoing devotional life of the town.
