The church of Maria SS.ma della Grazia, originally dedicated to the Annunziata, is the defining symbol of Carpanzano. It guards a venerated Marian image and, according to the portico’s surviving stone plaque, also hosted a stay by Charles V. The Cappella della Madonna della Grazia frames its sacred icon, a half-length painting of the Virgin and Child, their faces visible through a silver mantle, within a wooden canopy made by craftsmen from Rogliano. A wrought-iron gate, dated 1932 in the ironwork itself, was donated in preparation for the Holy Year of 1933. This church was elevated to a “Santuario Mariano Forianale” in 2003, to emphasise the Virgin’s role as mediatrix of grace within the Savuto Forania, where local devotion has long centred on the Madonna della Grazia. The principal feast occurs on the fourth Sunday of September, with a votive celebration on the 12th.
