In the rural landscape of Basilicata, a small church built in 1955 by the land-reform authority has been given a new life. Originally serving the parish of Garaguso, the church of the Parata was elevated to a diocesan sanctuary in 2022, dedicated to Saint Joseph the Worker. It is the only such sanctuary in the region devoted to the foster father of Jesus.

Following a restoration project that valued both its architectural heritage and the surrounding countryside, the sanctuary was reopened and a new altar consecrated in July 2024. The principal feast is celebrated on the first of May. Modest in scale but significant in devotion, this whitewashed church stands as a quiet point of reference for pilgrims in the Diocese of Tricarico, its simple form a testament to the post-war rural rebuilding that shaped this corner of southern Italy.
