In the hilltop town of San Chirico Raparo, the parish church of Santi Apostoli Pietro e Paolo has long been a quiet keeper of relics. Among them, the blood of Santa Sinforosa, a widow and martyr, said to have died with her seven sons, draws pilgrims from neighbouring villages. In July 2022, the local bishop elevated this church to a Diocesan Sanctuary dedicated to the Family, under the name of Santa Sinforosa, San Getulio and their martyred children.

The present monumental building was reconstructed between 1814 and 1854, replacing an earlier fifteenth-century structure. It remains, first and foremost, a working parish church; the sanctuary’s role is pastoral, focused on welcoming pilgrims to the relic, with an emphasis on family spirituality, the liturgy, and the sacraments. A rare thing, this: a sanctuary devoted not to a single saint, but to the idea of the family itself, rooted in a very particular local story of faith and endurance.
