San Saba, Rome

The Basilica of San Saba is located on the "Piccolo Aventino" in Rome. The basilica's origin is traced to 645 when fugitive monks from Mar Saba in Palestine traveled to Rome to attend the Lateran Council. They subsequently remained on the Aventine.
