S'Altare de Logula

In the countryside near Birori, close to the borders of Borore, Bortigali and Dualchi, stands Sa Perda 'e S'Altare, a giant’s tomb from the Nuragic civilisation. It sits at 339 metres above sea level, about a kilometre and a half from the nearest road, the SP 33. This type of megalithic burial monument, built of large stone slabs, is characteristic of Bronze Age Sardinia. The name refers to the central upright stone, which resembles an altar. The tomb’s precise dimensions and original construction date are not recorded in the available notes, but its scale and setting on the island’s rugged landscape speak to the enduring presence of Sardinia’s prehistoric past.
