The Nuraghe Oese stands in the territory of Giave, in north-central Sardinia, on the north-eastern slope of a locality called Campu giavesu. It lies within the plain of Cabu Abbas, also known as the valley of the Nuraghi, roughly eight hundred metres from the nuragic palace of Santu Antine, in the historic region of Meilogu. This archaeological complex is a characteristic example of a nuraghe, a type of ancient megalithic structure unique to Sardinia, built during the Bronze Age. Its precise dimensions and original purpose remain partly mysterious, though it likely served defensive and ceremonial functions for the Nuragic civilisation.
