Nuraghe Mura Lavros

The Nuraghe Mura Lavros, referred to in texts as Mura Lavros de Suba to distinguish it from the identically named nuraghe slightly downstream, stands on basalt ground sloping south towards the Mura Lavros stream. It lies in pastureland and olive and vine cultivation, in the territory of Santu Lussurgiu, a few kilometres east of the town centre. This Bronze Age stone tower, typical of Sardinia’s nuragic civilisation, offers a quiet, windswept vantage over the surrounding agricultural landscape. Its precise original purpose remains uncertain, though such structures are thought to have served defensive or ceremonial functions. The site is a testament to the island’s ancient, pre-Roman heritage.
