Sito archeologico di Vassallaggi

The Sito archeologico di Vassallaggi is a Bronze Age settlement on a Sicilian hill of the same name, 704 metres above sea level near San Cataldo in the province of Caltanissetta. Its strategic position in the Salso river valley, between the southern coast and the northern part of the island, made it a natural point for communication. After its prehistoric origins, the site flourished from the 7th century BC as a phrourion, a fortified stronghold. The ruins stretch along a NE-SW axis, parallel to the SS 122 San Cataldo-Serradifalco road, and offer a quiet vantage over the surrounding landscape.
