The Ex Convento di San Domenico sits on flat ground beside its namesake church, its broad portico opening onto Viale Mazzoni with six cross-vaulted arches. Above, rectangular windows are centred over each arch, while white keystones connect to a horizontal line that runs the length of the façade. From this line, small pinnacles rise above the columns to meet a string course at the base of the windows.
Inside, two cloisters retain their fifteenth-century character, with original cross-vaults intact. Columns rise from low walls, supporting capitals with only the simplest leaf decoration and modest volutes. In the innermost cloister, traces remain of a loggia with Istrian marble columns and capitals. The rooms on the first and second floors bear the marks of an unhappy eighteenth-century restoration, and no significant movable artworks survive within the convent walls. It is a place more suggestive of its former life than rich in preserved treasures.
