Chiesa di Sant'Ilario a Port' Aurea

The ex-church of Sant'Ilario a Port'Aurea, of Lombard construction, stands in Benevento along via San Pasquale, a stretch of the Via Traiana. Its name derives from its proximity to the Arch of Trajan, which in the Middle Ages, incorporated into the city walls, was called Porta Aurea. The archaeological area preserves the remains of this early medieval church, built by the Lombards, reflecting their architectural influence in the region.
