Chiesa di San Giuseppe

The Chiesa di San Giuseppe stands oriented to the south-east, its composite plan more intricate than the simple rectangle of many Italian churches. A single, longitudinal nave is flanked by two annexes, a sacristy to the left and a meeting room to the right. The central space is covered by a barrel vault, punctuated by transverse arches, while the slightly raised presbytery is crowned by a tiburio and dome, lit by windows. An altar beneath a niche bearing a statue of the saint completes the chancel. Simple walls are articulated with friezes, mouldings, capitals and pilasters. The main facade is a linear, attic-fronted composition, distinct from the lower, pitched-roof side wings. The central, architraved portal is surmounted by a niche with a saint’s figure and a semicircular window lighting the nave. Service entrances flank the door, and a small belfry, a campanile a ventola, rises above.
