Chiesa di S. Bartolomeo

The interior of this medieval church is a single nave, roofed by a ribbed, lunette-vaulted ceiling. Vertical pilasters divide each side into four small, flat-backed chapels, while two larger chapels flank the presbytery, forming a rudimentary transept. The nave ends in a curved apse, lit by two tall windows and covered by a richly decorated semi-dome.

Attached to the main church is the chapel of the Beato Ogliero, now used as an auditorium. Its façade is incorporated into the lower order of the building housing the confraternity of the Santissimo Sacramento. The exterior is stark, drawing attention to a splendid wooden door. Inside, the chapel is rectangular, with a four-bay ribbed cross-vault. The presbytery, raised three steps above the main space, is covered by a sail vault. The contrast between the unadorned outside and the articulated, vaulted spaces within is striking.
