Castello Ruffo di Amendolea is a medieval fortress in the town of Amendolea, at the heart of the Grecanica area in Reggio Calabria province. Its strategic position was no accident: the Amendolea river valley historically marked the boundary between the ancient cities of Locri and Reggio. The castle’s ruins, built by the Ruffo family, still command the landscape, a stone reminder of a time when this valley was a contested frontier.
