Casa detta Senore o Palazzo del Vescovo

This palazzo, square in plan and rising three storeys above ground, presents a face of exposed brick and stone, partly rendered, that signals a certain medieval civic confidence. The façade is its chief delight: a ground-floor portico of three pointed arches, framed by geometric brickwork, supports a decorated string course of dentils. Above, three elegant mullioned windows mark the piano nobile, their stone colonnettes and carved capitals a clear statement of status.

Inside, the building is a study in medieval structural logic: flat, coffered ceilings and vaults, with a pitched roof of wooden trusses and terracotta tiles. The walls are a mix of stone and brick, some left exposed, some plastered. It is a palazzo of its time, solid, rectangular, functional, yet the care taken with its external brick decoration and the rhythm of its openings suggests a building that was meant to be looked at, not merely lived in.
