Barone-Perrella

This is the Barone-Perrella palazzo, a building that takes the form of an L, rising across four storeys. Its load-bearing structure is of stone masonry, partially rendered in plaster. The roof is pitched and covered with terracotta tiles, finished with a dentilled cornice, a small, decorative detail that speaks to a certain architectural ambition. On the principal façade, a stone portal catches the eye: a round arch, with a keystone and moulded corbels. It is the sort of entrance that would once have announced the status of a family, before the building settled into quieter, more private rhythms. Such palazzi were the urban strongholds of the Italian nobility, combining domestic life with a measure of defensive solidity. This one, with its plain surfaces and careful stonework, feels like a practical, unshowy version of that tradition, a house built to last, not to boast.
