Arco Felice Vecchio

Arco Felice Vecchio is not a town but a specific ancient monument: a large gateway built in the 1st century AD by the Emperor Domitian, serving as an entrance to the ancient city of Cuma. It stands near Pozzuoli, in the Campania region of Italy, though it is actually located in the adjacent district of Licola, on the border with the Cuma-Fusaro area of Bacoli. The arch gives its name to the nearby frazione of Arco Felice, a settlement of about 10,000 inhabitants that borders Bacoli. Despite the name, the arch itself lies outside that district, a reminder of how Roman infrastructure still shapes local geography and nomenclature.
