Archaeological site of Paestum

Paestum, on the Tyrrhenian coast, was a major city of Magna Graecia. Its ruins are famous for three ancient Greek temples in the Doric order, built between about 550 and 450 BCE and preserved to an excellent degree. The city walls and amphitheatre are largely intact, and the lower walls of many other structures remain, alongside paved roads. The site is open to the public; a modern national museum within it also houses finds from the associated Greek site of Foce del Sele.
