The Walls of Kassopi in Preveza municipality are the surviving remains of a fortification that once enclosed an ancient city active from the Archaic period through Roman times, roughly the eighth century BCE to the third century CE. Built and rebuilt across several eras, the extensive circuit protected a sophisticated urban centre with a temple, theatre and agora. Today the walls stand partially preserved, tracing the outline of a settlement important enough to warrant monumental defences, and they reward visitors who walk their course with a vivid sense of how a regional city guarded its civic life.
