High on the slopes above the village of Vourliotes on Samos, the Vronta Monastery keeps a quiet, stone-built presence. Also known as Panagia Vrontiani or Panagia Kokkarianis, it belongs to the Byzantine era, and its recorded history reaches back to 1566. Recognized as a protected building in Greece, it remains a living place of worship, celebrating its feast day on September 8. A handful of residents were counted here in 2011, a reminder that this is no ruin but a continuing home of devotion.
