At Psalidi, near the town of Kos, the remains of a Roman building stand as a quiet trace of the island's ancient past. Excavations in 1987 by the 22nd Ephorate of Antiquities brought the structure to light, one of forty-seven digs undertaken across Kos that year. Such finds help illuminate how Roman settlement spread through the Dodecanese, and they reward the traveler who pauses here: a fragmentary site, open to the sky, where masonry and setting invite you to imagine daily life on this island two thousand years ago.
