Perched at 454 metres on the southeastern slopes of Mount Eros, the Monastery of Prophet Elias offers a quiet, elevated retreat above the busy harbour of Hydra, roughly three kilometres southwest of the town. This Byzantine-era men's monastery, also known as Prophet Ilios, holds a central position on the island, with the Monastery of Agia Efpraxia nearby to the northwest. A protected building in Greece, it invites travellers to climb beyond the coastal bustle and experience the stillness that drew monastics to such heights centuries ago.
