At the top of a small hill above the village of Kastri stands a fortification of which almost nothing is known. Its construction date is guessed to be post-medieval, though this is uncertain, and no records survive to clarify who raised its walls or why. What remains is a small fort, now in ruins, its stones gradually returning to the hillside. The absence of documentation leaves its story open to speculation, and the site offers little more than its quiet, weathered outline. It should not be confused with another Kastri in the same region, closer to Makrakomi, where a separate castle of ancient date exists; that one lies outside the scope of this account. For the visitor, this is a place of bare facts and unanswered questions, a fragment of defensive architecture whose purpose and fate have slipped from the historical record.
