On Alepotrypes Hill, roughly a kilometre southeast of Chountaleïka, the remains of Kastraki Foniskou keep watch over the surrounding landscape. This partially preserved castle is defined above all by its circular tower, a sturdy feature whose stones hint at the site's long life as a mixed-period fortification, shaped and reshaped across several historical eras. Archaeological work in 2010 documented the tower and its structural details, offering a glimpse into how such strongholds were built and defended. Standing among the ruins today, you sense layers of occupation that no single century can claim.
