Near the cave itself stands the Documentation and Education Center of Theopetra Cave, a modern museum built to interpret one of Greece's most remarkable prehistoric records. The cave holds a sequence of human occupation stretching some 45,000 years, from the Middle Palaeolithic through the Neolithic, and excavations between 1987 and 2010 uncovered traces of that long story, including trial trenches and walls. The center's exhibits explain the cave's archaeological significance and what such finds reveal about prehistoric life in the region, making it a fitting introduction before or after visiting the site.
