Standing on Hermou Street in Komotiní, this neoclassical clock tower dates to 1884, when the city was developing along late nineteenth-century lines and such public structures announced a town's civic pride. Rising prominently above the street, it served both as a practical timepiece for residents and as an architectural landmark in the Rhodope region of northern Greece. Today it belongs to the Municipality of Komotiní and remains a recognisable feature of the city's urban fabric, a modest but enduring monument to an era when a tower and a clock could give a whole town its rhythm.
