High in the Mani of Laconia stands the Church of the Bodiless Powers, a 13th-century Byzantine chapel whose name honors the heavenly hosts. Its architecture follows the classic inscribed-cross plan crowned by a dome, a form beloved by medieval builders for its harmony and symbolic reach. Inside, wall paintings from the 13th or 14th century still adorn the surfaces, offering a glimpse of the devotional art that once surrounded worshippers. Excavation in 1991 opened the way for restoration and consolidation, helping preserve this quiet witness to Byzantine faith and craftsmanship in the Peloponnese.
