This Byzantine church, dedicated to St. Phanourios and St. Paraskevi, stands at Kaminakia on Naxos, a site layered with centuries of history. Long before the church rose, this ground held temple structures and settlement traces reaching back through the Archaic, Classical, Hellenistic, Roman, and Late Antique periods. Two archaeological objects have been documented here, quiet witnesses to that deep past. The church itself belongs to the island's Byzantine chapter, a small sacred landmark where worship continued across eras, near the ancient Portara. To visit is to stand where layer upon layer of Greek history meet.
