In Kato Doliana, a traditional village in North Kynouria, the Church of St. Nicholas preserves a piece of Arcadia's Byzantine Christian heritage. The village serves as the winter home for the people of Ano Doliana, and its inhabitants today earn their living chiefly from olive oil production. Excavations in 1982 at a site in the northern part of the village uncovered the remains of a poros building and a rock-cut silo, yielding numerous Roman-era vases and lamps. These finds hint at long continuity of settlement around this quiet upland place.
