The Church of the Presentation of the Virgin stands in Vari, East Attica, a Byzantine sanctuary whose modest scale and plain masonry reflect the character of provincial churches across the Attic countryside. Its Greek name, Ι. Ναός Εισοδίων Θεοτόκου, ties it to the village beneath the Hymettus range, where Christian worship has continued for centuries. The building is protected as a heritage monument, and excavation in the surrounding area from 1974 to 2023 revealed roads, tombs, and walls, alongside traces of classical, Hellenistic, and Roman activity, including a circular peribolos of 12.90 meters in diameter at Gourna.
