The Church of the Archangels (Taxiarchon) in Areopoli serves as the town’s cathedral. It occupies the second, lower square. It was from here that the signal was given to begin the Greek Revolution against Ottoman occupation. The church is a religious site in the East Mani region of Lakonia.
