The Chronis House is a Byzantine mansion in the fortified town of Mystras in Laconia, a place that flourished in the thirteenth through fifteenth centuries. Domestic buildings like this one show how prosperous residents of the era lived, built and ordered their households within a walled hill town. Today the house stands inside Mystras, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1989, where the surviving architecture offers a vivid sense of daily life and building methods in the late Byzantine Peloponnese.
