In the village of Emporio on Kasos, the foundations of a Byzantine baptistery and basilica trace the outline of a Christian community that gathered here for centuries, from the fourth through the fifteenth. The two buildings stood side by side, the baptistery adjoining the basilica, together forming the ritual heart of local worship. What survives today are the lower walls and structural traces of that vanished world, preserved as a protected archaeological site. Walking among them, you sense how faith shaped daily life across the Byzantine era, and how much a few remaining stones can still say.
