On the island of Samothrace, this small museum holds the scattered traces of a sanctuary that once drew pilgrims from across the Greek world. Its collections span archaic, classical, Hellenistic, Roman, and late antique centuries, with architectural fragments, inscriptions, and votive offerings that hint at the mystery rites celebrated at Paleopolis. Excavations in 1972 brought further finds to light, and within a partly cleared early Christian basilica, the remains of a smaller Byzantine church were identified, layering centuries of worship on one site.
