Archaeological Museum of Pella

Αρχαιολογικό Μουσείο Πέλλας

The Archaeological Museum of Pella, designed by architect Konstantinos Skroubelos, stands on the site of the ancient city of Pella. Opened in 2009, it ranks among the most important museums in Northern Greece and serves as a key reference point for ancient Macedonian history. The museum houses finds from excavations in Pella, presenting the history, art and daily life of the Macedonian capital from the 4th century BC through the Roman era. Thematic units and explanatory materials guide visitors through the cultural significance of Alexander the Great’s birthplace. The museum also functions as a cultural hub, hosting periodic exhibitions, educational programmes, lectures and events. Practical facilities include a cafe, shop, printed guide, parking, lift and disabled WC. A special ticket package (15€) covers the archaeological site, the museum and the palace of Pella.
