High on the Kastritsi hillside in Achaia, with views toward the foot of Mount Erymanthos, the Ancient Theatre of Leontio belongs to a settlement whose story stretches from the Archaic through the Roman periods, roughly the 8th century BCE to the 3rd century CE. The theatre reflects the cultural life of this ancient community across its long history, from archaic and classical beginnings through Hellenistic and Roman times. Fieldwork in 2022, led by Oliver Hülden and Georgia Z. Alexopoulou, brought fresh attention to the site, part of a five year research effort.
