The Acropolis of Halieis crowns the southern tip of the Argolid peninsula, a fortified citadel overlooking Porto Heli bay. Its story stretches across the Archaic, Classical, and Hellenistic periods, with a prehistoric settlement beneath the later Classical acropolis. Walls and foundations remain partly visible, enough to read the shape of a coastal stronghold that once guarded the approaches to ancient Halieis. Standing among the ruins, you sense why this height mattered: the bay below, the sea routes beyond, and centuries of habitation layered into one commanding site.
